Type Locality and Naming
The Oshosun Formation only occurs west of the Okitipupa Ridge (Whiteman, 1982) and the formation was erected by Jones (1954)

Lithology and Thickness
It is composed of green to greenish grey clays and glauconitic shales interbedded with lose sand. The basal parts are arenaceous. Thin limestones and marls are locally or sporadically present (Nwajide, 2013). Billman (1992) noted that the formation is about 250m offshore.
